Parlour Grand (Ed, Eric and Roy) has decided to divide their material, take the country-tinged songs, and become a full-blown country band. They'll join forces with the country band Ed and Eric were already in with Aaron Spangler and others.
The more "prog" material they've been writing lately will now be played under the name Midnight Ropes.
They'll make their debut live performance Monday, December 11 at 8:00pm at Magnetic Field - 97 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn. The other band on the bill, Ex-Planets, is also a debut and features Eric and Beckley, as well as Chris Evjy and Tom Choi.
Troost regulars and fresh faces alike took over a large studio stage in Prospect Heights yesterday and made hours of exquisite improv noises. Eric Edler booked the room so the men could celebrate the impending birth of his first child, while the girls did the baby shower thing. There were two drumsets and all the toys. Ears were surely damaged but it was well worth it. Thanks to Eric and all the best.
Word is that Eric and Ed have decided to convert Parlor Grand into an Ed solo project with various players helping out in the recording process. Too bad, or maybe not.
Troostite played last night 'til the wee hours at the Parkside Lounge in Manhattan. Players included Mark Hervey, James Gleason, Beckley Roberts, Josh Lewis, Mike Rock, and the mysterious walk-on drummer Kai Ceasar, who played in a black wool coat and matching fedora, and beat the crap out of the skins.
It seems that the rumors are true that Hay-Dar has sought greener pastures. While we'll miss that voice, we're sure that Ed, Eric, et al. will continue on, and we'll be looking forward to see and hear who comes on board to fill the spot. Should be great.
The multi-talented and prolific Julian Rozzell, Jr. has put up a site showcasing his acting, artistic & musical work. Check it out at julianrozzelljr.com.
The fine people of Parlor Grand, some of whom are regular Troosters (Ed & Eric) have rented a tricked out practice space in Williamsburg. They say they want to include Troostite in the rotation. There are sure to be some sparkling nuggets borne of that mine.
By the end of September, the “robots” loft will be no more. Thanks to Ed for all the pickles and sausage.
